John 15:16 – “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

How long have you been a Christian? Two years? Ten years? Are you a Christian at all? Whatever the answer may be, I want each of you to read John 3:16 right now. Jesus died for you, loves you and desires to have a relationship with you. You are a CHOSEN child of God. Psalms 139:14 even says that you are fearfully and WONDERFULLY made!! Now, re-read John 15:16 again…I’ll wait. What happens when you read this? Does the possibilities of the promise, that the Lord will give you whatever you ask, excite you? I mean, WOW! It’s a pretty amazing promise!! But if all you get from this scripture is that you now have a God who will give you whatever you want, you’re mistaken.

You see, the Lord chose you. Yes, you. He chose you, so that you would bear fruit in the name of Jesus FOR the name of Jesus. Do you see the difference? The Lord didn’t choose you so that you could get/have whatever you want and have the best life and best boyfriend and best friends and cutest outfits and the best grades forever and ever and ever and ever and….well you get my drift. The Lord chose you—APPOINTED YOU—so that you might go and bear fruit that will last. The things of this world pass away. It’s an inevitable fact. Clothes, money, popularity, fame…they will all end or be destroyed in one way or another. However the things we do in the name of the Lord, for the Glory of God…those things, my friends, LAST. But, don’t get too depressed…the coolest part is coming.

What I’m discovering is that, when you live your life for the purpose of glorifying God in all that you do, He blesses you! He actually does give you really good friends, he actually does provide for you financially, he actually does take care of you in ways you couldn’t even imagine asking for! Romans 10:15 says “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Choose the Lord first in your life. Choose His ways and desire His will. When you do, the Lord will use you to be a bearer of fruit—of good news!! And whatever you ask for, He is happy to give, because you will be desiring the Lords glory and honor first.

Lord,

You are so kind to have chosen me. Because you chose me, I know you see me as beautiful and fearfully and wonderfully made. Lord, please begin to change my heart. Help me to want the things that You want. Lord help me dream and desire the things that YOU dream and desire for me. I desire your will above my own, in all things, so that I can bear good fruit in the name of Jesus for the Glory of God.
